June Wrap-Up!

June has not been my month. I didn’t finish my TBR Jar challenge, I didn’t even START Metro 2033  which my boyfriend recommended, I barely read anything it feels like. But I got a bunch of stuff. So there’s that.

What I Bought!

I struggled to get this picture.

18 books! That is a lot. But two will be sold soon. I bought the first two books of The Chronicles of Narnia at a thrift store and then the next day found that lovely complete edition at another thrift store so i don’t need them anymore.

What I Read!

So because my TBR was to finish a series I decided to try and finish the Oz books. I’d read 1-3 so i picked up the next volume and got through 1 and a half books. This hasn’t been a month of lighthearted joy for me and I just wasn’t feeling those books. Here’s the full list of my reading exploits:

  1.  Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz by Frank L. Baum
  2. The Road to Oz by Frank L. Baum (DNF)
  3. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
  4. Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse
  5. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
  6.  When She Was White by Judith Stone (DNF)

Now I plan to finish both The Road to Oz and When She was White I simply was not in the mood for them at the time I picked them up. I am currently starting The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer which I’m excited about!

Plans for Next Month!

TBR Jar Challenge: Go to Goodwill, buy a read book.

So on my last two trips to Goodwill I have found InkSpell by Cornelia Funke and then Inkdeath. I never buy a series unless it’s in full so I didn’t pick these up but i noted that I kept seeing them. It must be a sign that I should read this series right? Well when i pulled this TBR I went to Goodwill and found all three books, same edition and the first book, Inkheart, is red. You can see them in my haul photo 🙂

My tbr for July is:

  1.  The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
  2.  The Inkheart trilogy by Cornelia Funke
  3. When She was White by Judith Stone

That is all my lovelies.

Oh and I’ve nixed the idea of listing ALL of my 2015 books. I’ve gotten too many. It would just be a list of 60+ books and that is not a good time for anyone.

Sunday (Tuesday) Wrap-up #4

This week in books! (Feb. 22- March 1)

It’s late because my internet was out. :/

I’ve been doing these wrap ups for a month already! Where is time going? It’s March guys. Anywho, the show MUST go on, even if I wish it’ll just stop and I can be sentimental for a bit longer (I just finished a bildungsroman so forgive me)

What I Read!

In order to get me out of my reading slump I picked up Holes by Louis Sachar and it got me well and truly out of my slump! Then i picked up A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith which I’ve had for a few years now and I binged it Saturday night and Sunday when i woke up. I haven’t gotten a Chat out on this yet because of the whole internet thing but I’m in love with this book. Sunday before I went to bed I picked up Wideacre by Philippa Gregory. This is the first book in my favorite trilogy and I’ve read it twice already but I don’t feel like reading something new, i want to read Wideacre 😛

What i Bought!

I still haven’t gotten any new books 😦

Plans for Next Week!

I am going to read the Wideacre trilogy. I’m super excited about this. I love love love this trilogy.

I’m also going to try and purchase my TBR book for the month, I’m making that post next.

Sunday (Monday) Wrap Up #3

My Week in Books! Feb 15-22

Honestly this is going to be super short because I did not read or buy anything new this week.

What I Read!

Let me just say; I dislike this book. It is a collection of short stories about Dia de los Muertos and my bestie Sierra and I decided to read it for our first TBR Jar challenge but really neither of us want to read it. It’s bad. I am only half way through after almost 2 weeks and the book is only like 250 pages!!! I’m in that same slump as I was with The Princes in the Tower by Alison Weir, i don’t want to put it down because I know I’ll never pick it up again, so now I’m simply not reading anything because I tell myself the only thing I’m allowed to read so my brain is like “Fuck reading then!”

What I Bought!

Nothing. I got no new books this week.

Plans for Next Week!

Read. Something. Anything. I think I’m going to start The Walking Drum by Louis L’Amour because it is technically next in my TBR. I want to finish another book this month. Seriously. I’ve read like two books this month.

Yeah. My week in books sucked BUT my week in writing has been amazing! I’m getting so much world building done for my Camp NaNoWriMo novel and I have so much planned. i want to write this NOW! Ugh! Super excited 😛

Sunday Wrap Up!

This Week in Books (Feb. 8-15)

What I’ve Read!

I finished Those who Save Us by Jenna Blum earlier in the week and then picked up Dia de los Muertos which is part of my TBR Jar that I am doing with my friend Sierra. You can read my Chat on Those Who Save Us which i posted just before this and I should finished Dia de Los Muertos tonight.

New Books!

I only got one new book this week and I won it in a giveaway!

Excuse this picture, the Sun has gone down and thus all of my light as fled

This is an advanced reader copy of The Secret Wisdom of the Earth by Christopher Scotton, I won it from The Reading Room Facebook page. Of course the actual novel is out and if I enjoy this I will have to buy one because this is not the final polished version of the book. Also the official cover is great:

Plans For Next Week!

I am going to finish Dia de los Muertos, probably tonight or tomorrow and then i will read something. I don’t know what yet. Maybe The Kings Curse or The Walking Drum, not sure yet.

I also hope to have The Peoples History of the United States by Howard Zinn next week. AND I am going to be getting a ton of books next weekend 😛

TBR Jar:

For my February TBR I have to read Those Who Save Us and I have finished it and LOVED it! For my Besties TBR I must read Dia de Los Muertos and it is not very good. Some of the stories are mildly interesting but the rest are jsut poorly written blah.

Not the most interesting week in books but ya know, twas my week and I’m happy with it 🙂

Sunday Wrap Up #1

This week in books! (Feb. 1- Feb. 8)

What I’ve Read:

This week I’ve read Splash of Color with Cherry Blossom by Berry, the first few pages of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell by Susanna Clarke, and I started reading Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum.

New Books!

I got so. Many. Books. This week.

I spent a lot of money.

I am proud.

I will go over my entire haul at the end of the month but thus far I have bought or received in the mail this week:

  • Dia De Los Muertos edited by Angela Charmaine Craig
  • Now Face to Face by Karleen Koen
  • The Book of Dead Birds by Gayle Brandeis
  • Room by Emma Donoghue
  • The Walking Drum by Louis L’amour
  • A Splash of Color with Cherry Blossom by Berry
  • Classic Cookbooks from Juniper Books

I’m most proud of that last one! It was a present for my besties birthday (her birthday is next week but she saw me walking into my house with the GIANT box and was like “GIMME NOW!” So I did). The set includes:

  1. The Essential New York Times Cookbook by Amanda Hesser
  2. James Beard’s American Cookery
  3. Joy of Cooking 75th Anniversary Edition
  4. How to Cook Everything by Mark Bittman
  5. Cook’s Illustrated Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen

It looks like this:

Or this:

I’m so happy because the bestie is so happy. I get a TON of pride and joy giving, whether it’s a physical, material thing or just a helping had, or whatever and she was just SO FUCKING EXCITED! Best day ever.

Plans for Next Week:

From  this afternoon until next Sunday i plan to finish Those Who Save Us, Dia de Los Muertos, start The Walking Drum, and get a copy of A People’s History of The United States by Howard Zinn because of reasons.

TBR Jar:

For my February TBR I have to read Those Who Save Us and I’m loving that right now. I plan to finish it today if I ever drag my ass out from in front of this computer. For my Besties TBR I must read Dia de Los Muertos but I’m going to wait until Sierras copy arrives so we can start together. We drew our next prompt and it was to read an author with a Z name. Our friend suggested A Peoples History of The United States by Howard Zinn.

That’s it I think. My week in books.

Not terribly exciting. Sorry.
